We stayed at the Hive Hotel for 4 days. The strength of the Hive Hotel is the personalities of the front desk staff. They are always positive and upbeat during all interactions: pre, during, and post hotel stay. They arranged an excellent airport transport for us and allowed an early check-in after our transatlantic flight. We traveled together as a family of six adults booked into 3 rooms. In our booking request, we asked to be near one another and in twin beds. However, this did not happen/we were spread out and in double beds, However, we made it work and attributed the mistake to checking in 2 hours early. The rooms which were serviced daily were very comfortable, large, and clean with modern decorating. The beds/bedding were decent, and the bathrooms were upgraded with rainhead showers/strong hot water flow. We could hear some street noise inside our rooms. The location was safe, convenient, and satisfactory for touring Rome, about a 30-minute walk to most historical sites. There were many restaurants and a supermarket within one block. It was important to us that this hotel was close to the rental car place at the train station. If you are using the train often and/or touring outside of Rome for the second part of your trip, this hotel works especially well because of its train station proximity. We were able to pick up our car at the train station and then return easily and quickly to pick up our passengers and luggage by pulling off on one of the side streets around the hotel for a few moments. We ate breakfast every morning and one lunch in the rooftop restaurant. The food choices at breakfast were good and abundant. However, in contrast to the front office staff, the servers are unfriendly and inattentive to customer needs. We didn't try the gym and spa, but we don't know if we would have even if we had extra time due to the additional charges.

− Inconsistent service, attitudes, and interactions with some hotel staff. Busy area--some street noise. Small, slow outdated elevators--we always took the stairs but this could be an issue for customers with disabilities. Gym and spa upcharges--it is always better to raise the overall room prices slightly and then offer your guests a more inclusive, elevated experience that includes some access to amenities.

Clean, nice location with short distance from the Train terminal. Shops and restaurants in the area. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We loved everything about this hotel from the facilities, the room and the location. I would definitely stay here again.
