Unacceptable experience for a 5-star hotel

− Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. When we arrived, I was feeling unwell after the flight and taxi journey. We asked whether it would be possible to access our room around two hours before the official check-in time, simply because I needed to lie down. Instead, we were offered a downgrade to a lower-category room and, inexplicably, asked to pay an additional charge for it. Given how I was feeling, I paid because I did not have the energy to argue and just needed somewhere to rest. However, the worst part of our stay was the hotel's laundry service. We entrusted our clothes to the hotel laundry and they came back completely ruined. What made the situation even more unacceptable was the hotel's response when we complained: we were essentially told that there was no proof that the clothes had not already been damaged before we handed them over. I find this response astonishing, particularly from a hotel presenting itself as a 5-star property. If a guest entrusts their clothes to an internal hotel service, the minimum expectation is that the hotel takes responsibility when something clearly goes wrong, rather than suggesting that the items might already have been ruined. Mistakes can happen in any hotel. What distinguishes a 5-star property is how those mistakes are handled. In our case, both the handling of our arrival and, above all, the response to the damage caused by the laundry service fell far below what I would consider acceptable. A deeply disappointing experience and certainly not the level of service I would expect from a 5-star hotel.

Le camere sono molto belle

− Esperienza estremamente deludente, soprattutto considerando che si tratta di un hotel a 5 stelle. Al mio arrivo stavo molto male a causa del viaggio in aereo e del successivo trasferimento in taxi. Ho quindi chiesto semplicemente la possibilità di entrare in camera circa due ore prima del normale orario di check-in. La soluzione che mi è stata proposta è stata assurda: un downgrade della tipologia di camera accompagnato da un pagamento aggiuntivo. Ho accettato e pagato solamente perché in quel momento non stavo bene e avevo bisogno di andare in camera senza mettermi a discutere. Ma l'episodio più grave riguarda il servizio di lavanderia interno dell'hotel. Ho affidato loro alcuni vestiti e mi sono stati restituiti completamente rovinati. Quando ho segnalato immediatamente il problema, invece di assumersi la responsabilità o cercare una soluzione, mi è stato risposto che non avevano alcuna prova che i vestiti non fossero già rovinati prima di essere consegnati alla lavanderia. Una risposta che trovo francamente inaccettabile. Seguendo questa logica, un cliente dovrebbe fotografare ogni singolo capo prima di consegnarlo alla lavanderia dell'hotel per poter dimostrare successivamente in che condizioni si trovava. Gli inconvenienti possono capitare in qualsiasi struttura. Quello che distingue un hotel a 5 stelle dovrebbe essere il modo in cui vengono gestiti quando accadono. In questo caso, purtroppo, sia la gestione del mio arrivo sia soprattutto quella dei vestiti danneggiati sono state ben lontane dal livello di servizio che ci si aspetterebbe da una struttura di questa categoria. Esperienza pessima e servizio decisamente non all'altezza delle aspettative.
